Sponsored Products best practices to help boost sales

Want to grab customers’ attention? A comprehensive analysis of Walmart proprietary data* shows that a product’s position in search results matters. Higher search positions can influence purchase intent and potentially help increase sales.

Our data shows that:

  • The click-through-rate for Search In-grid position 1 is on average 4 times higher than positions 2–10.
  • The add-to-cart rate for Search In-grid position 1 is on average 5 times higher than positions 2–10.

Use these Sponsored Products best practices to help target top Search In-grid placements!

New column in Excel reports from Order Management dashboard

In order to provide sellers with more visibility into discounts offered to customers in future programs, we will be adding a new “Discount” column (Column AA) to the Order Excel report from Seller Center. The column will highlight program-specific discounts and does not refer to reduced price or clearance price deductions.

Please make changes as required to prepare for the new column in the report download from the Order Management dashboard.

Policies & Guidelines

Enhanced Returns policy starting February 5

We’re continuing to refine our return exceptions policy to lower your costs, improve customer satisfaction, and streamline your operations. Starting February 5, pursuant to the Marketplace Returns Policy, all eligible items will be automatically moved to our Enhanced Returns experience.

Eligible items do not include:

  • Freight/LTL
  • Custom-made items
  • Items that can’t be returned in a single box
  • Other: Electronically fulfilled PINs, Feminine hygiene products, Gift cards, Items that require insurance, Meal kits, Prepaid cell phone cards, SIM cards, Undergarments, Tires, Qualifying luxury goods

For these, return restrictions must be requested separately, instead of using the Return Rules Spec. Follow these steps to submit a return exemption.

Security & Privacy

Walmart protects your security and privacy. We will never ask for personal information (such as passwords or credit card numbers) in an email. If you receive such a request, please do not respond to the email.
