Save on WFS inbound shipping costs using a less-than-truckload (LTL) service

We’re excited to announce the expansion of the Walmart Fulfillment Services (WFS) Preferred Carrier Program! In addition to the existing FedEx small parcel service, WFS sellers can now enjoy great savings on inbound transportation costs when shipping large volumes of inventory or heavier, oversized items to a Walmart fulfillment center using a less-than-truckload (LTL) service. Early participants in the WFS Preferred Carrier Program reported, on average, 50% lower rates than shipping on their own before the addition of LTL service.

Coming soon: Item Spec 4.5, with much-anticipated shipping restrictions!

Stay tuned for the release of Item Spec 4.5 coming soon. Updates include new attributes for ‘Sale Restrictions’ for furniture and appliances categories to give sellers the ability to configure shipping restrictions on their items if they are not able to ship items to a certain state or zip code. Restrictions capabilities will be enabled for more categories soon.

Reminder: Full Item Setup and Maintenance specs v3.2 retiring soon

Starting October 1, our systems will no longer support item setup or maintenance using Item Spec 3.2. Make sure you start using the latest versions in Seller Center now so you can enjoy all the new features, manage your items more efficiently, and help ensure your business remains uninterrupted.

Upcoming updates to Order ID numbers

As a reminder, we are increasing the length of our order ID numbers. Order numbers are currently 13-digits long, but they will be expanding to 15-digits. There are no required code changes or action needed by you, but please ensure there will be no limitations on your end to consume or display the new order IDs.

Upcoming enhancements to the Order Management Dashboard in Seller Center

We’re enhancing the Order Management Dashboard in Seller Center to provide sellers with an easier, more user-friendly experience while managing and fulfilling Marketplace orders. Keep reading to see what’s coming:

  • Redefined and consolidated categories to help sellers quickly identify orders in each stage of the order lifecycle. Including an “all” tab that will provide a holistic view of all orders.
  • New search and filter capabilities to help sellers efficiently navigate through orders and quickly address orders that need immediate attention
  • Additional fields such as ‘Ship Method’ and ‘SKU related info’ will be added
  • To help accelerate fulfillment, the Order Details page will display each PO line according to the fulfillment status
  • Better accessibility to easily view an order’s date, expected ship date (ESD), estimated delivery date (EDD), and shipping method
  • Improved workflows to help simplify the shipping and cancelling process

Improvements to the order cancellation experience

We’ve made some improvements to the order cancellation experience to assist sellers with identifying customer-requested cancellations. When a customer requests to cancel an order, you will now see a ‘Customer Requested Cancellation’ code in the status column of the Order Management Dashboard in Seller Center. Additionally, you will be prompted to check a dialog box before you can mark such an order as shipped.

Policies & Guidelines

Return Shipping Policy update

Starting June 28, 2022*, per the Marketplace Returns Policy, sellers will be responsible for all return shipping fees including returns classified as ‘No Longer Wanted/Changed Mind‘. Please remember, offering free return shipping is a key driver of customer satisfaction and can help boost your product conversion.

As part of this change, Returns Shipping Service (RSS) rates will increase beginning June 28, 2022*. This will account for significant increases in domestic shipping and current market conditions. The most up-to-date rate card will be available in Seller Center under Returns soon. More information about Return Labels can be found here.

While return rates are increasing for all Marketplace sellers, those enrolled in Walmart Fulfillment Services (WFS) can benefit from smaller increases. Consider joining WFS today to unlock the WFS Intro Offer with free storage on up to 10,000 units and 10% off fulfillment fees during your first 90 days.*

International trade restrictions reminder

Walmart is firmly committed to complying with all laws and regulations in every market we operate, and we expect the same from our Marketplace sellers.

On April 7, 2022, the U.S. Department of the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) announced new sanctions strictly prohibiting the following:

  • The importation into the U.S. of non-industrial diamonds having Russian origin and prohibitions on dealings with Russian state-owned diamond miner Alrosa.

These restrictions were effective April 7.

As events continue to develop, we ask that you monitor and ensure compliance with all Executive Orders, trade restrictions, and other sanctions regulations arising from the conflict in Ukraine.

Thank you in advance for your attention. Please reach out to your counsel with any questions or concerns.

Review the Walmart Seller Pricing Policy

We want to remind sellers that the Walmart Marketplace pricing policy is in place to ensure that customers have access to fair, competitive prices for products offered by sellers on Walmart Marketplace.

For all products, including products such as hand sanitizers, cleaning agents, face masks, etc., we require sellers to continue to adhere to Marketplace policies regarding price and advertising claims to ensure customer trust in Walmart Marketplace. Products that are priced in violation of the pricing policy will be removed. Please refer to the Pricing Policy and our Prohibited Products Policy for more information.

If prices change and the item now falls within the acceptable range, the item will automatically republish, typically within 48 hours. If more than 48 hours have passed and you believe your item remains incorrectly unpublished, please create a case with Partner Support.

Prohibited Products Policy reminder

We want to remind you of our Prohibited Products Policy, which lists the types of products that are prohibited and/or restricted from the Walmart Marketplace. The policy is subject to change so please periodically review the page.

Walmart will remove any product listings that per our discretion may be in violation of Law, the Prohibited Products Policy, or any other Walmart policy. Please consult with your legal counsel if you have questions about the laws and regulations concerning your products. Note that corrective action may be taken on your account as needed due to violations of our policies, this may include suspension and/or termination of your account.

If you have questions about our Prohibited Products Policy or would like additional guidance, please create a case for Partner Support and reference code TNS.

Product restrictions - pre-approval categories

Walmart strives to be the most trusted retailer, having a marketplace that is inclusive, robust and compliant is one of our highest priorities. As per our Prohibited Products Policy, please be aware that the following categories require pre-approval from Walmart before a Seller may offer such products on the Marketplace.

  • Fragrance
  • Luxury brands
  • Software
  • Cell Phones and Accessories
  • Halloween and select seasonal products
  • Custom Content

Sellers may apply for approval to offer products in these categories by contacting Partner Support and selecting: Items/Inventory > My item is unpublished. Include a list of the brands or products you wish to sell. Approvals will be granted for specific brands or products within these categories. Please note that approval may be retracted if there are any legal claims related to products or if your products, or account are found to be in violation of any of our policies.

If you have questions about category restrictions or our Prohibited Products Policy, please create a case via Seller Center with the code “TNS”.

Security & Privacy

Walmart protects your security and privacy. We will never ask for personal information (such as passwords or credit card numbers) in an email. If you receive such a request, please do not respond to the email.
