Update your API to prepare for Inventory Transfer Services

A few weeks ago, we announced the launch of Inventory Transfer Services (ITS), which is currently available to eligible WFS sellers.

We’re expanding this service to additional sellers in the coming months. In preparation, we encourage you to follow the instructions in the Developer Portal to update your Create Inbound Shipment API. Doing so will allow you to choose between ITS and self-distribution on an individual inbound order basis once you become an eligible seller.

Please note that if you don’t update your Create Inbound Shipment API, your settings will be automatically defaulted to self-distribution for all WFS inbound orders even after you become eligible for ITS.

Policies & guidelines

Reminder: Hazardous items not allowed under Prohibited Products Policy

As we start to enjoy summer, here’s a quick reminder about our hazardous item requirements:

  • Marketplace:
    • Any propane item shipped must follow U.S. Department of Transportation shipping requirements.
  • Walmart Fulfillment Services (WFS):
    • Empty tanks must be clearly defined as ‘empty’ in product description.
    • Tanks containing propane and/or helium (including small canisters) are prohibited in the WFS assortment.

Important notice on Global Trade Item Numbers (GTINs) usage

It has come to our attention that there have been several instances of GTIN reuse in our item catalog, and we would like to emphasize the significance of avoiding this practice.

Going forward, please assign a new and unique GTIN to each product variant, including variations in color, size, packaging, or any other distinguishing attributes. This is important to our efforts in reducing consumer confusion, providing transparency, enhancing product traceability and delivering a better overall experience on Walmart Marketplace.
