Here’s what you’ll need:

  • Business Tax ID(s) or Business License Number (SSN not accepted)
  • Supporting documents that verify your Business Name and Address
  • History of marketplace or eCommerce success
  • Products that have GTIN/UPC GS Company Prefix Numbers
  • Catalog that complies with Walmart Prohibited Products Policy
  • Fulfillment through Walmart Fulfillment Services (WFS) or another B2C U.S. warehouse with returns capability

Step 1: Get verified

Business verification is a crucial step that helps us confirm your company’s credentials.

To avoid delays in processing, enter your:

Business information, including your entity type and tax registration. Your tax registration must precisely match your IRS records or government-issued documents.

Include personal information, including a government-issued ID for the applicant or legal representative.

Business verification can vary from a few minutes to two business days.

Where can I find more information about business tax IDs needed?

What if my business is based outside of the U.S.?

If you’re based outside the U.S., you’ll need to provide additional verification as listed below, as well as location-specific documentation.

International sellers also need to provide the following:

  • Company PAN card
  • GST registration certificate
  • Certificate of incorporation or Articles of Association
  • Utility bill or bank statement
  • Identity and address details, along with a non-toll-free business phone number
Can I sell with Walmart Marketplace in other countries?

Yes! When you sign up to be a seller on our platform, you will have the option to sell in the U.S., Mexico, Chile, and Canada. Our platform provides translation and options to provide your market details for each country for seamless cross-border eCommerce.

Step 2: Choose your payout method

Choose how you want to get paid by signing up with a third-party payment processor:

  • Navigate to the Payments section in Seller Center.
  • Select the payment processor of your choice.
  • Visit their site to complete registration.
  • Then, return to Seller Center to link your payment processor with your Walmart Marketplace account.

Notes:

  • As a new seller, you’ll experience a New Seller Payment Hold after you begin selling on Walmart Marketplace to allow time to build sales history and credibility. The timeframe of this hold varies by your country of incorporation.
  • Payout provider options vary based on your country of incorporation.

Step 3: Add market details

Provide your:

  • Business name
  • Customer service email address
  • Customer service telephone number

Note:

If you’re an international seller, provide your U.S. tax ID (if you have one) and your corresponding U.S. legal business name.

Step 4: Manage fulfillment

Now, choose how you’ll get your items to your customers.

In this section, you’ll define your:

  • Shipping policy and preferences
  • Customer returns policy and settings

Walmart offers several shipping options that can help you deliver your items to customers in two days or less.

We have several options for you to choose from, depending on whether you’d like to handle shipping yourself or have Walmart fulfill your orders for you. You also have the option to do a combination of both.

Seller Fulfilled Solutions (SFS)
Handle your shipping yourself with Simplified Shipping Settings—our improved automated shipping platform. Offer expedited delivery and get discounted shipping rates through Ship with Walmart.

Walmart Fulfillment Services (WFS)
Once you’ve completed the onboarding process and set up your first item, you can choose to fulfill specific items in your catalog through Walmart Fulfillment Services (WFS). Review WFS Seller onboarding and setup to learn more.

Can I change my shipping methods later?

After completing your account setup, you can manage your shipping settings anytime from the Shipping Profile section of your Account page in Seller Center.

Step 5: Set up your catalog

Next, choose how you want to set up your catalog.

Once you’ve finished setting up your catalog items and their inventory, your account setup will be complete.

It may take up to four hours after adding your inventory for your account setup to be complete.

As a Marketplace seller, you have three options for creating your catalog on Walmart.com:

Solution providers—Work with a third-party company that specializes in helping make your business more efficient and optimize your online sales.

API connection—Directly integrate with the Walmart API with this option. To get started, check out the Developer Portal.

Seller Center—Add items yourself via Setup by Match, Single Item or Bulk Upload.

What if I sell products that don’t have a product ID?

If you sell products that don’t have a product ID (e.g., private label or handmade jewelry), you can request a UPC or GTIN exemption to sell these items on Walmart.com. To request an exemption, review Request a GTIN exemption.
